Did Selena Gomez just throw some serious shade at Miley Cyrus? Selena talked to W Magazine about her hopes for her career, and there’s something she definitely doesn’t want to do: be like Miley! Wow! Read on for her full remarks!
Selena Gomez, 23, has some particular ideas about what she wants to do next in her career, and it’s the opposite of whatever Miley Cyrus, 23, is doing! In an interview with W Magazine‘s March 2016 issue, Selena talks career and personal transitions, and compares herself to the other former Disney starlet. But are her comments malicious or just very honest? Click through to read her full remarks!
Selena’s not trying to reignite the great Gomez-Cyrus feud of the Disney Channel days. Instead, Selena was explaining to her interviewer how both women have evolved their music over their careers. And they’ve definitely gone different paths: Selena, more sexy and sensual, Miley, crazy and abstract.
“Obviously, [Miley] wouldn’t want to be doing what I’m doing, and I wouldn’t want to be doing what she’s doing. But I’m a fan of her music—I don’t know if she’d say that about me. “Every single girl has done it completely differently,” Selena told the magazine. We have to hope that Selena’s wrong; Miley seems to support all women, especially her fellow former Disney sisters!
Selena squashed the notion altogether that she and Miley had ever hated each other when they were teenagers. They were just kids, sorting through hormones — and some funny feelings about Nick Jonas, now 23. “We never feuded,” Selena said. “We both liked the same guy when we were 16. It was just a Hilary Duff–Lindsay Lohan thing (they both liked Aaron Carter): ‘Oh, my God, we like the same boy!’ We are now completely settled in our own lives.”
