The bond between a mother and daughter is a strong one — just ask Kristin Cavallari, who, in the wake of her brother’s tragic death, has been able to find immense comfort in her newborn daughter, Saylor. The baby girl has given Kristen strength and taught her that ‘you can’t fall apart.’ So sweet!
It has been quite a difficult few months for former reality star Kristin Cavallari, 29. Not only did she find herself hospitalized due to a car accident she experienced on Jan. 22, but in December 2015, Kristin’s brother, Michael Cavallari, died after being reported missing for two weeks. But despite all of the tragedy, Kristin has managed to remain strong with the help of her baby girl, Saylor. Read her touching declaration here.
“I’ve found so much strength in the kids—especially Saylor,” Kristin revealed to E! News at Wonderful Halos’ charity event at the Boys & Girls Club of America in New York City. “You know, when tragedies happen and you have little kids, you can’t fall apart. I had this teeny tiny baby I had to look after and so…you know, it’s been hard.” Hard is an understatement! Kristin and her family suffered a major loss when Michael was found dead on Dec. 10. But although Kristin has struggled to stay positive at times, one thing that she’s incredibly grateful for is her family.
“I have good days and bad days, but I look at my kids and I’m just so thankful that I have them and that they’re all healthy,” the former reality star revealed. “You know, and I have a great husband and that’s what it’s about. You have to appreciate everyone when they’re in front of you.” What a beautiful way of looking at things, Kristin! Her husband, Jay Cutler, and her two other children, Camden and Jaxon, have undoubtedly been her rocks.
Michael’s untimely death isn’t even the only thing Kristin has had to suffer through lately. The family was thrown another curveball on Jan. 21 when Kristin’s car was hit by another driver in Chicago. Thankfully the Laguna Beach star remained mostly unharmed, but she did dislocate her elbow.
“At first, I could barely even move my hand,” Kristen admitted. “I couldn’t hold my daughter for the first week which was really tough and my husband had to help me breast feed. So that was really glamorous! I mean, it wasn’t very sexy.” Kristin continued, “So that was tough, not being able to hold her myself. But now I can.”
While it would be easy for Kristin to wallow in her misfortunate, she has decided to look at things in a more optimistic light, which is an outlook that was inspired by her children. “The fact that I’m not in a cast and I have my arm and my kids weren’t with me, I’m just so grateful,” Kristin gushed. Back in December, Kristin referred to Saylor as her “light” and captioned an Instagram photo, “Thank you baby girl for coming when u did.” What a beautiful gift for Kristin during this extremely difficult time — Saylor’s timing couldn’t have been more perfect.
