Yes!! James Corden is gifting us with yet another amazing episode of his ‘Carpool Karaoke’ and this time he’s got none other than Chris Martin from Coldplay to hop in his ride! Read on for what amazing songs they decided to sing along the drive.
Coldplay has an epic month of Feb. kicking off, with their much-anticipated Super Bowl 50 halftime performance and what better way to get us ready for it than Chris Martin singing along in The Late Late Show‘s always entertaining “Carpool Karaoke.” We absolutely love the segment and so do musicians, as host James Corden has managed to get superstars like Justin Bieber, One Direction and even Adele to play along.
This time around it’s James who’s helping someone get to work as Chris is first seen hitchhiking in the rain with a cardboard sign reading “Super Bowl San Francisco” as James pulls over to pick him up. They turn on the radio and whaddya know, it just happens to be Coldplay’s latest hit “Head Full Of Dreams” to which they joyfully sing along.
Chris admits that he doesn’t know much about American Football before the pair break out into Coldplay’s dreamy classic “Yellow.” The camera makes it actually looks like they’re driving up to the Bay Area as they’re seen heading north up the foggy PCH as well as passing some LA area farm fields. James asks how much further they have to go as Chris whips out a California map and declares, “only about four hundred more miles!”
James asks Chris who he looks up to in the music world, and as Chris answers “Bruce Springsteen, U2, Bruno (Mars)….” before James cuts him off to boldly declare “no one will ever come close to what he did at the Super Bowl, it will be hard to match that,” much to Chris’ chagrin before they join in Coldplay’s hit “When I Ruled The World.” Other Coldplay songs they lit up include “Paradise” and “Fix You.
Unfortunately, Chris didn’t discuss anything about Coldplay’s Super Bowl 50 halftime performance, and we were really hoping he’d say something about Beyonce, who is going to be joining them for the big show with her collaboration “Hymn For The Weekend.” But this Carpool Karaoke was shot back when the band visited James’ show Dec. 5, so maybe the final details of her joining them hadn’t been worked out yet. HollywoodLifers, what did you think of Chris’ Carpool Karaoke? Did it measure up to other singers epic standards?
