Steven Tyler is a rock legend, but can he teach candy to sing? If you think that’s a weird question to ask, it definitely is, but it’s the premise to Skittles’ amazing new Super Bowl ad! Click through to watch the crazy commercial!
Steven Tyler, 67, is totally tasting the rainbow! The insane Super Bowl commercial from Skittles features the Aerosmith frontman being presented with a portrait of his famous face, made entirely out of the beloved candy. That’s impressive enough, but it turns out that it can talk to Steven, and sing, too! Click through to watch the Super Bowl spot!
If you’re going to put Steven in a commercial, it’s bound to be a little weird, right? The commercial shows Steven walking down a hall in a regal manor — his house, judging by the gold records plastered on the walls. “Dream On” is playing in the background as he’s presented with something magnificent: a massive portrait of his own face, made completely out of Skittles! Whoa.
Sure, it’s a little wonky, but for something made out of candy, it’s pretty impressive. Steven doesn’t think so; he calls it “diddly-dee-sgusting.” Okay! Then, the portrait starts talking back to him, and launches into its own version of “Dream On.” Steven coaches him, telling him to go higher and higher, until the Skittles dude can’t handle it anymore, bursting into piles of candy. This is just too bizarre to handle!
While the ad is 100% bonkers, there’s definitely something cool about it. This is the first time in the history of the candy’s “Taste the Rainbow” campaign that a celebrity starred in one of their ads. Very cool! Additionally, this is only the second time that Skittles has scored themselves a commercial during the Super Bowl. This is really going to be one to remember!
