The comedy duo Key & Peele are about to venture into unknown comedic territory — live Super Bowl commentary! And better yet, the two made their announcement in a hilarious teaser vid that has us totally psyched for their wacky endeavor — watch it here!
Key & Peele are about to show us a side of the Super Bowl we’ve never seen before…and we can’t wait! In a comical video sponsored by Squarespace, the entertaining pair announced that they will be hosting a live video broadcast during the big game with their own take on the proceedings. And if this teaser is any indication of the hilariousness that’s going to go down during the big game, it’s going to be a pretty epic performance.
The Comedy Central twosome made up of Jordan Peele, 36, and Keegan-Michael Key, 44, will be in character as Lee and Morris, aspiring sportscasters from Atlanta, during Super Bowl 50 on Feb. 7. In their one-minute teaser video revealing the big news, the two, in character of course, stumble over their words and cannot even get the big news out clearly. They’re left arguing with each other and Jordan even mentions to the camera, “Trust us, this is very well rehearsed.” Hilarious!
The stunt, which is sponsored by Squarespace, is a pretty ambitious endeavor, especially considering most of the live stream will be improvised, according to Squarespace representatives who spoke to Adweek. Sounds a bit crazy, right? Well it gets better — legally the two cannot actually discuss the Super Bowl at all. Talk about a catch…but it’s not stopping this duo! “They’ve decide to move forward with the plan anyway,” stated a press release announcing the act. Stream Key & Peele and more shows for free HERE.
We give them props for the bold move, but just how is a live commentary on the Super Bowl going to work if they can’t even mention the Super Bowl? Apparently the stream will mostly consist of the duo riffing and “talking around the game,” Squarespace revealed to The Verge. One thing’s for sure, it will definitely be interesting to see how they pull it off! And for those of you who aren’t huge sports fanatics, this hilarious commentary might just have saved your Sunday! Watch another LOL-worthy teaser below.
Even though their namesake TV series, Key & Peele, has ended, Jordan and Keegan-Michael have a slew of projects in the works including a comedy show with a Vine star, a movie about a kidnapped kitten, and a stop-motion animated comedy about goth teens. This comedic team cannot be stopped!
