On Monday, Feb. 1, Nickelodeon will debut a brand new reality competition series, which host Daniella Monet says reminds her of ‘Legends of the Hidden Temple.’ To find out more, keep reading because the ‘Victorious’ star sat down with HollywoodLife.com and gave us all the EXCLUSIVE details on her new show!
We’re so excited for Paradise Run! It’s a new game show, premiering on Nickelodeon Feb. 1, and it puts teamwork to the test in a beautiful tropical setting. Plus, it features kids and Victorious star Daniella Monet is the host! To learn more about the show, find out what the host told HollywoodLife.com during an EXCLUSIVE interview.
Daniella told HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY that as soon as Nickelodeon approached her about hosting Paradise Run, she knew she had to sign on. “I love that it had to do with kids competing for this big vacation, which I thought was so exciting because that’s exactly what I would want to do as a kid. And I liked the context of the show. I thought that it sounded very adventurous. There was an element of stunt-like activity, which I think is really cool because kids are not so active these days, and it really forces them to get out of their comfort zones and have fun, play together and work as a team.”
“I grew up in the 90’s and I watched Legends of the Hidden Temple. When I read the outline for Paradise Run, I felt like this is exactly what the network is missing. It’s so rare that you see kids being pushed to the limit and working as a team and competing, but still in a friendly manner,” she added.
The contestants who come in first place actually take home a pretty cool prize! “The contestants win a vacation and they get to bring their families. They get a bonus as well to spend there, so they get money that they could put towards activities, pizza, room service, or whatever they want. It’s a tropical vacation to Hawaii at a kid-friendly resort. And then there are also runner-up prizes,” Daniella told us.
And as far as any drama is concerned, there won’t be a lot. “We had some tears for sure. But more often than not, all of them became really good friends and hung out together afterwards. And everyone wins something, so it’s not like anyone walked away feeling like a loser. It really comes down to how fast you can finish each challenge,” Daniella added.
Paradise Runs premieres on Nickelodeon Monday, Feb. 1 and the 20 episode series will regularly air on weeknights at 7pm.
