Companies pull out all the stops for Super Bowl commercials, but Avocados From Mexico took things all the way to outer space! In an ad for the fruit, aliens take a look at ‘the bounty of Earth’…and Scott Baio. Watch the hilarious ad here!
When it comes to ads during the Super Bowl, it’s always a competition who can create the most out-of-this-world commercial — and Avocados From Mexico took that phrase literally! The company’s ad for Super Bowl 50, titled #AvosInSpace, shows a group of aliens touring the Museum of Earthly Wonders, checking out everything from the Rubik’s cube to actor Scott Baio. Sound a bit strange? It totally is, but that’s what makes the ad so funny!
As a tour guide leads the pack through the museum in the minute-long ad, he explains their relevance in a cleverly alien-like fashion. After showing the Rubik’s cube, he takes them to an airplane setup, which he hilariously calls a “21st century torture device.” Moving along, the aliens also see emojis — our so-called “alphabet” — and the dress that sparked the infamous black/blue or white/gold debate. Perhaps the most random throw in was Scott, who didn’t even get any explanation!
While most of the artifacts are basically dissed in the ad, the one thing that gets a raving review is, of course, the avocado! “The most amazing of all are the avocados from Mexico. They’re always in season so you can enjoy them all year long,” the guide says. Tying in Scott’s presence in the museum, the guide asks, “Anybody wanna feed Scott Baio? It’s included in the price of admission.”
Before seeing this commercial, people probably wouldn’t associate avocados with aliens. But we have to say, Avocados From Mexico’s hysterical ad has us cracking up the whole way through and totally makes us want an avocado — on Earth or in space!
