Vanessa Hudgens proved just how strong she was during her Grease: Live performance on Jan. 31 — and made her dad, Greg Hudgens, so proud. She revealed before taking the stage that the show would be dedicated to him — and right at the end, the network nodded their hat to him.
“In loving memory of Greg Hudgens,” the caption read at the end of the credits. “June 22, 1950 – January 20, 2016.” Of course, this was at the very end of the show when Vanessa pretty much won it all. Not only did she perfectly embody Rizzo, but she nailed both her solos, “There Are Worse Things” and “Sandra Dee” (both rated 10 in our review!)

As HollywoodLife.com previously reported, Greg succumbed to his illness — stage 4 cancer — on Saturday, Jan. 30, the actress confirmed. “I am so sad to say that last night my daddy, Greg passed away from stage 4 cancer. Thank you to everyone who kept him in your prayers,” Vanessa wrote on Twitter this morning. “Tonight, I do the show in his honor,” the actress also said.
Just last week, Vanessa was begging her fans to pray for her dad. “Hey guys. My dad isn’t doing too well. Please say a prayer for him! It would mean a lot to me,” she tweeted on Jan. 24. Sadly, he didn’t survive. Needless to say, Vanessa did an amazing job during Grease: Live. Her dad would have been so proud of her!
