Serena is a world-class veteran tennis player who has been to six Australian Open finals and hasn’t lost a single one. This also marks her 22 title in 26 finals. She hasn’t lost one in five years and now a relatively newbie is coming for her. Angelique is on 28 and hasn’t even been to a major final before! But she’s been good enough to get this far, so who knows! WATCH THE LIVE STREAM RIGHT HERE.
This certainly isn’t the first time Serena and Angelique have gone head to head. They’ve played each other six times before, with Serena winning all but one. That one win doesn’t even give Angelique much hope. It was back in 2012, and Serena had literally just won double-gold at the London Olympics so she didn’t much seem to mind the loss, or give her best effort.
Angelique may get a little confidence from the fact that Serena lost some steam toward the end of her battle with Agnieszka. She started tightening up a bit in her last game, with her groundstrokes becoming a bit sluggish, and her feet dragging a bit. She did make it out unscathed, winning 6-0, 6-4, but Angelique could use her shaken confidence to her advantage. Tune in on Jan. 30 to see who wins!
