Kanye West isn’t taking any criticism about his new album, and he proved it when Wiz Khalifa started dissing its name on Twitter. As soon as Ye saw the tweets, all bets were off. We’ve never seen a Twitter rant this extreme! Check it out right here.
Kanye West, 38, went on the most epic Twitter rant EVER on Jan. 27 after he saw that Wiz Khalifa, 28, had dissed his new album’s name, Waves. He’s been working hard on this album for three years now, and pushed back the release repeatedly to make sure it’s perfect, so he’s not about to let anyone bash his baby. See what he said, here.
Kanye took to Twitter on Jan. 26 to announce that the album he’s been working hard on for three years would be changing it’s name from Swish to Waves. However, Wiz Khalifa’s friend Max B, a rapper who is currently in prison serving 75 years for murder conspiracy and robbery charges, coined the terms “wave” and “wavy” with his album Toothy Wavy in 2012. Apparently he’s a big inspiration to Wiz, so he hated that Kanye didn’t credit him for using the word. Wiz kicked off a long string of pissed-off tweets with the same sentiment:
However, Yeezy took this as a mortal sign of disrespect, so he totally lost it and went off on a 17-item list as to why Wiz sucks. He took a series of intense jabs at Wiz, and things got pretty personal! First, he claimed he takes his music from rapper Kid Cudi, saying “Bro, first of all you stole your whole s**t from Cudi.” Then, he went in on Wiz getting his sloppy seconds with model Amber Rose, “4th, you let a stripper trap you” and “you wouldn’t have your child if it wasn’t for me.” He also dissed his “corny” singles, and got mad at Wiz for using his wife Kim Kardashian’s initials in a tweet. Check out the full rant here.
Phew! But the most interesting turn of events is the oddly complimentary tweets Kanye also threw into the mix. He complimented Wiz on his style repeatedly, even using the hashtag #WizWearsCoolPants, and “17th I think you dress cool I wish I was skinny and tall.” Oh, okay Kanye. It seems like he actually wanted to keep it semi-civil after he let some of that rage out, because he eventually did give credit to Max B in a tweet, to which Wiz responded “Yea aight.” So it looks like everything’s good now, since Kanye finished his rant with “good energy, positive energy” and deleted all of his previous angry tweets. Weirdest. Fight. Ever.
