We’re super excited about the new movie ‘The Land,’ which is making it’s debut at the 2016 Sundance Film Festival. The flick is so much more than a just another youth skateboarding film!
The Land is about four inner city kids in Cleveland who develop a passion for skateboarding, but get involved with dealing drugs to support their sport, as well as escape from their troubled lives at home. Director Steven Caple explained that he got the idea for the film from two kids in Los Angeles who were dealing drugs to support their own dreams. He assembled a super talented young cast but also brought in the legendary Erykah Badu for some star power. The singer she claims she’s playing the “neighborhood ‘ho” and was happy to have the role.
The film marks the acing debut for Ezri Walke, who says he learned a ton from his more seasoned co-stars, to which Moises Aria said they got just as much help from seeing everything from the eyes of someone new. The four young stars of the film bonded so much they moved in together during filming and even made music as a group, which ended up in the film’s soundtrack.
