Macklemore, 32, and Ryan Lewis are holding absolutely nothing back in his new track “White Privilege.” They rap about the fight for racial and social equality in the song, and takes major jabs at stars like Miley Cyrus, 23, and Iggy Azalea, 25, in a majorly dramatic second verse. To start the song, the duo sing about feeling uncomfortable taking a stand for racial equality because they’re white, but things get real after the chorus, when they begins calling others out for appropriating the culture but not doing anything to make a change. He doesn’t name many names, but Miley and Iggy were unable to escape the wrath, and are specifically mentioned as guilty.
“You’ve exploited and stolen the music, the moment, the magic, the passion, the fashion. You toy with the culture, the culture was never yours to make better. You’re Miley, you’re Elvis, you’re Iggy Azalea, fake and so plastic, you’ve heisted the magic. You’ve taken the drums and the accent you rapped in. You’re branded ‘hip-hop,’ it’s so fascist and backwards.”
It doesn’t stop there either. Meanwhile, Iggy caught wind of the song thanks to a fan on Twitter, and she wasn’t too thrilled about it. “He shouldn’t have spent the last 3 yrs having friendly convos and taking pictures together at events etc if those were his feelings,” she responded. Oh man, the war is on!
