Julianne Hough Smoking In ‘Grease: Live?’ — Will Sandy Have A Cigarette? – Hollywood Life

Will Julianne Hough Smoke A Cigarette As Sandy In ‘Grease: Live’? — Interview

'Tell me about it stud' became one of the most popular lines in 'Grease,' when Sandy -- played by Olivia Newton-John -- throws down her cigarette after taking a drag. However, it may be different for the live Fox edition! Grease: Live will definitely be an updated version of the musical and movie that we all fell in love with. However, it's pretty clear in the photos and trailer that Julianne Hough is going to be an excellent Sandy -- but is she making major changes? HollywoodLife.com caught up with the Dancing with the Stars vet and got some scoop on that last scene, her favorite song to perform, and yes, a return to DWTS.

“We will not be having a cigarette,” Julianne, 27, told us. “I don’t know . . . there’s the option of gum!” No e-cig either, Julianne confirmed. “There’s always the option of ‘I don’t need the cigarette.’ I can just walk down there and show what a strong sexual confident woman I’ve become.”

She also told you about the first time she put on that outfit — both the good girl and the bad girl version. “I just completely embodied what Sandy was,” she said. “I had the good girl Sandy on first and felt quite demure. My posture was different, and then when I put those [black] pants on it was like I felt confidence and sexy.”

When it comes to the songs she has to sing live, she admits that she loves “Summer Nights” since it’s “still relevant today with some of the words.” The toughest song for her is “Hopelessly Devoted to You,” and not just because of the range! “I’ll be getting on a golf cart right after the dance and had busted my butt, then traveling to Sandy’s house in like a minute and a half, have to get prepared and belt it out,” she explained.

We had to also ask about her start — on DWTS — and if she’d be returning as a judge next season. “I am not sure,” she admitted. “It goes from season to season, and they usually wait ’til a few weeks before. I don’t know what is going to happen. But regardless I am a part of that family forever and they are a part of mine. So whatever happens, happens, but I will always be a part of the family!”

Are you excited for Grease: Live? It airs on Fox on Jan. 31!
