It’s time to start the week off right, courtesy of Kanye West and Kendrick Lamar. These two hip-hop superstars teamed up for Yeezy’s ‘No More Parties In L.A.,’ a smooth track featuring both an amazing flow from Kendrick and Ye giving a shout-out to baby Saint West! Click to listen.
Forget coffee, tea or that breakfast burrito. The best way to start your day is with new music from Kanye West, 38, especially when he’s featuring Kendrick Lamar, 28. After teasing the collaboration, Yeezy finally released the track and it features the first time he’s ever mentioned his baby boy in a song!
Kanye released “No More Parties In L.A.” on Jan. 18, much to the delight of eager fans. The track with Lamar has a beat from underground hip-hop legend, Madlib, 42, according to Pitchfork, and the track definitely has a dreamy, sun-kissed feel to it. It’s perfect for capturing that City of Angels atmosphere and attitude. Plus, Kendrick’s verse definitely proves why he’s the favorite rapper of President Barack Obama, 54.
“Please baby no more parties in LA,” Kanye sings for the hook, according to Genius. There are moments in this song where Yeezy looks back on his life, saying, “When did I become A list? I wasn’t even on a list.” He even made mention of his family — Kim Kardasian, 35, North West, 2, and baby Saint!
“Textin’ and drivin’ down my [undecipherable] Drive / That’s why I’d rather take the 405 / I be worried ’bout my daughter, I be worried ’bout Kim,” Kanye raps. “But Saint is baby Ye, I ain’t worried ’bout him.” Seems Yeezy thinks baby Ye will grow up to be as successful as his papa. Start the countdown until Saint’s debut mixtape!
Fans have been thirsty for this track. Days after Kanye dropped his song, “Facts”, Kim tweeted on Jan. 8 that her husband would be putting out a new tune every Friday leading up to his brand new album, Swish. Yeezy released, “Real Friends,” that day, which included a preview of “No More Parties In L.A.” But, Jan. 15th came and went with no music. What gives? Turns out, Kanye was in Italy with producer Noah Goldstein, putting on some last-minute finishing touches.
Kanye is always the perfectionist. In fact, he pulled “Real Friends” from the Internet because there was a “slight distortion in the main loop.” After fixing the issue Kanye re-uploaded the track. Phew. Thankfully, Yeezy fans won’t have to wait too long for his next full album, as Swish is due on Feb. 11.
