This is heartbreaking! Rory Feek made us all reach for the tissues once again when he revealed that his wife, Joey’s long and public battle with cancer my soon be coming to a tragic end.
Rory Feek, 49, got real about his wife approaching death and made us get all misty eyed in the process. The country singer opened up in a heartbreaking interview, revealing that his wife, Joey Feek, 40, may pass away at any given time, “God only knows” where he and his family will be. So sad!
“Our greatest hope is that we live each day on this earth like it could be our last day to be together,” Rory revealed to TODAY.com about his wife, Joey’s, battle with stage four cervical cancer. “Not just because it actually could be our last day … but because life is so short for all of us.”
Too short is an understatement. Rory knows his wife is experiencing her final days, as her health is deteriorating quickly. When asked how he and Joey will celebrate if they win the Grammy they’re nominated for, Rory responded, “God only knows where we will be in a month.” This is just too sad!
But Rory went on to say that he’d “love” to be there holding Joey’s hand and watching the show on TV together. “If they called our names as the winner, I want to be able to lean over, look into her eyes and say ‘congratulations honey’ and give her a long, slow kiss.” So sweet.
For those new to their story, Joey was diagnosed with cervical cancer in 2014, and although she underwent aggressive treatment, it returned in 2015. The couple announced in October 2015 that the illness was terminal and Joey decided to choose hospice care over additional treatment in that same month. On a blog titled “This Life I Live” and on social media, she and Rory have been documenting precious moments they share together as a family.
Since Rory started documenting Joey’s journey with cancer, the world became enamored with their heartrending story and truly began to feel for the couple and their 22-month-old daughter, Indiana. In a recent Insta, Joey and Rory shared a darling photo of Joey reading a book in her bed to Indiana.
Rory captioned the photo, “loving watching them loving each other.” Our hearts are breaking for this poor family. Fortunately for Rory his faith is keeping him strong. “I can tell you though … win or lose, together or separated by fate … Joey will be be right beside me then, and every moment before and after that day. If not in person, then in my heart. Always.” That’s true love if we’ve heard heard it. Our thoughts are with the Feek family.
