Remember when Chandler and Monica did a long distance relationship from Tulsa and New York? That’s kind of how the NBC special tribute to Jimmy Burrows will be with the rest of the cast and Matthew Perry.
By now, you know that NBC’s two-hour special to honor director James Burrows, will feature five of the six members of Friends — Matthew Perry cannot make it since he’ll be doing a production in London at the time. However, Matt, 46, who you probably know best as Chandler Bing (or Miss Chanandler Bong), just spoke out in a new interview, revealing that he may not physically be there, but he will still be involved in a big way.
“It’s not the reunion everyone is hoping for,” Matthew said during The Graham Norton Show, airing Jan. 15, via the Daily Mail. “They are celebrating Jim Burrows, who was a director of Friends. The other five are going to be on this special, and I am going to introduce them from London. I’m doing the play here so I can’t be there.”
Yes, that means he won’t be in the same room with Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, David Schwimmer and Matt LeBlanc, but he’s totally still involved and will introduce them. No, it’s not the coffee shop reunion we wanted, but hey — we will take it.
“Regarding Matthew Perry and the James Burrows tribute, Matthew will not be attending, as he is in London in rehearsals for his play, The End of Longing, which begins previews on February 2 at the Playhouse Theatre,” his rep said in a statement after the announcement was made at TCA in California. . You can watch all the Friends possible RIGHT HERE.
The special, set to air Feb. 21 at 9/8c PM, will also include the casts of Will & Grace, Cheers, Frasier, Mike & Molly, The Big Bang Theory and many more! We can’t wait — even if Chandler isn’t physically there. He’s never really in Tulsa, right?
