Uh oh! Olympic gold medalist Picabo Street was reportedly arrested back in December after allegedly pushing her elderly father down two flights of stairs while her three young children looked on. How awful!
Yikes! Looks like things have really gone downhill for retired Olympic skier Picabo Street, 44. The former gold medalist found herself in some serious hot water after allegedly pushing her 76-year-old father down two flights of stairs and locking him in a basement back in December. Picabo has since been arrested on a number of charges, including misdemeanor assault and domestic violence in the presence of children, as all three of her kids were reportedly on hand for the violent offense. See below for more details!
The incident reportedly took place after an argument between Picabo and her father, Roland Street, turned physical at the retired skier’s home, according to The Salt Lake City Tribune. The 76-year-old told police his daughter got angry and started yelling at him after he “bumped his car into the house” while trying to leave the residence. The two proceeded to go back inside where things quickly escalated as Roland allegedly pulled Picabo’s hair. The skier then allegedly retaliated by pushing him down the stairs and locking him in the basement, before calling the police.
“My father just tried to attack me in my own house in front of my children because he’s trying to get the car out of my driveway and ran into my house,” Picabo can be heard telling the authorities in a recording of the 911 call. “I put him down the stairs.” When the operator then tells to her hold on while she requests help, Picabo can be heard arguing in the background with her mother, saying: “Look what he did to me. He slapped my face!” Roland would later allegedly tell the police that he fell down two flights of stairs and may have hit his head.
Picabo, who won a gold medal at the 1998 Nagano Winter Olympics and last competed in the 2002 Winter Olympics near Salt Lake City, was charged with one count of assault and three counts of domestic violence in the presence of a child, all of which are misdemeanors. Each charge is punishable by a maximum of six months in jail, according to The Salt Lake City Tribune. Picabo is due in court on Feb. 16.
