Amy Schumer & Jennifer Lawrence: Why They Won’t Host Next Year’s Golden Globes

Tue, January 12, 2016 6:42pm EST by 3 Comments

After Amy Schumer and Jennifer Lawrence nailed their Golden Globes presenting gig, fans were dying to see the BFF dream team take the stage as next year’s hosts. But to their dismay, that’s not looking very likely — and HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY knows why!

As funny as Ricky Gervais, 54, may have been as host of the 2016 Golden Globes, Amy Schumer, 34, and Jennifer Lawrence, 25, were the talk of the night. Like they usually do, J.Law and A.Schu had everyone cracking up with their antics at this year’s Globes. So they’re totally a shoo-in to be the new Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, right? Not if the show’s organizers have anything to do with it!

“Golden Globes are looking to lock Ricky in for a few years. It is almost a definite he will do next year,” a source revealed to HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY. “They aren’t thinking of anyone else to host.”

Say it isn’t so! Obviously Ricky isn’t a bad choice for a repeat Golden Globes host — this year was his fourth go at it, after all — but Jennifer and Amy would just be so perfect. Besides, Twitter exploded with people demanding that the pair to be the 2017 hosts following their presenting spot, so obviously we’re not alone in thinking that!

It’s also somewhat surprising that the Globes would want to bring Ricky back with all of the controversies he has caused. In the four times he has hosted, Ricky has made some awfully low blows toward Robert Downey, Jr., Angelina Jolie, and most recently, Caitlyn Jenner. Considering Amy was censored for using a super-naughty word on stage, we’re sure Amy would have no problem stirring up a little controversy if that’s what the Globes are looking for!

Okay, we’ll stop the begging. Clearly the Golden Globes show runners are set on having Ricky return next year and maybe even several years after that. And we will admit that he had us laughing plenty, so he’s a pretty good fit for the gig. If it can’t be the Globes, maybe we should start campaigning for Amy and J.Law to host the 2017 Oscars, People’s Choice Awards, or even the Kid’s Choice Awards? All of the above?

HollywoodLifers, do you wish Amy and Jennifer would host the Golden Globes, or are you a fan of Ricky? If not the Globes, what else should they host together? Tell us what you think below!
