Kanye released “Real Friends,” accompanied by a snippet of “No More Parties In LA,” his collaboration with Kendrick Lamar, on Jan. according to Pitchfork. The song was removed from Soundcloud, becuase according to Yeezy, there was “slight distortion in the main loop.” Always the perfectionist, Kanye took the song down before reposting it. According to some now-deleted Tweets from Kanye, the song “No More Parties In LA” was produced by Madlib, while Yeezy used samples from Frank Dukes and Boi-Ida for “Real Friends.” CLICK HERE TO LISTEN TO KANYE’S NEW SONG.
And if you’re loving this, get excited — there’s more to come soon! ‘Ye’s wife Kim Kardashian, 32, hinted on Twitter Friday morning that her hubby will be dropping new music every week. “Friiiiiiday!!!!! New music!!!” she wrote. “#EveryFriday #Swish #RealFriends.” In case you forgot, Yeezy pulled a similar stunt back in 2010 for his album My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, promoting his new songs with a weekly “G.O.O.D Friday.” Stream Kanye’s music ad-free RIGHT HERE.
The 38-year-old actually started this new campaign on New Year’s Eve by releasing the song “Facts” just before the clock hit 12. Again, Kim hinted earlier in the day that something would be coming, and it did not disappoint. He did stir up some controversy, though, when he rapped about LeBron James, singing, “Nike, Nike treat employees just like slaves / Gave LeBron a billi’ not to run away.”
The pro basketball player seemingly caught wind of this apparent diss, and indirectly commented on it during an interview. “[Nike founder] Phil Knight’s greatest saying is, ‘Always listen to the heart of the athlete, listen to the words of the athlete, and that’s all it’s about, nothing else.”
Whether or not “Facts” caused any beef is unclear, but Yeezy made sure to clear things up from his point of view on Twitter. “The media trying to make it seem like I was downplaying LeBron on my son FACTS which I would never do,” he wrote. “Lebron is fam bottom line.” Okay, got it ‘Ye! As of now, the rapper’s next album, SWISH, doesn’t have a release date…but we’ll be waiting.
