The last few months of 2015 were extremely scary and emotional for Lamar Odom, but once Christmas came around, those emotions turned to happiness. Doing much better, Lamar got to spend the holidays with his kids. Get the touching details here!
It has been a long road of recovery for Lamar Odom, 36, since he was hospitalized for a drug overdose on Oct. 13, and the crisis has been extremely emotional for him and his loved ones. When Lamar and his kids Destiny Odom, 17, and Lamar Odom, Jr., 13, were reunited during the holidays, though, the only tears that were cried were happy ones. Although he remains in the hospital, Lamar and his kids had plenty to celebrate on Christmas, as things are looking up for him.
“Lamar is doing way better. He was so happy the kids were there with him for Christmas and they were so happy to be with him,” a source tells Us Weekly. “The kids were happy … to bring him gifts, all of his favorite things that they wrapped up. They had so much fun. It was very emotional and very happy.”
How sweet it that? Surely the last few times Lamar’s kids have visited their father have not been easy, as they had to see their father in such critical condition. But Destiny and Lamar Jr. were finally able to have some quality time that involved actually engaging with their dad like old times, and on a day that is centered around family. Lamar Jr. was so excited about their visit that he even shared a pic with their dad — the first of Lamar since he was hospitalized.
Lamar, Destiny, and Lamar, Jr. look elated to be back together on the holiday, happily coming together an adorable selfie. “Christmas with my pops. Here’s to 2016. Blessed,” Lamar Jr. captioned the shot. Clearly the room was filled with love during their Christmas together!
While it’s totally adorable that Lamar’s kids were so happy to be with their dad, what’s perhaps even more amazing is that Lamar’s wife Khloe Kardashian was actually the one who made it all happen! An insider revealed to E! News that Khloe flew Destiny and Lamar Jr. out to Los Angeles on Dec. 29 so they could spend the holidays with their dad at Cedars-Sinai Hospital.
We can only imagine how great it was for Lamar’s kids to see their dad be more like himself after what they have all been through. Once Lamar woke from his three-day coma, he suffered several strokes that resulted in kidney failure as well as physical and cognitive issues. Doctors even feared that he may never walk or speak again, but Lamar defied the odds on Dec. 17 when he started walking on his own. Considering he got to see his kids just a week later, we wouldn’t be surprised to see Lamar only improve from here!
