Donald Fagen, 67, the frontman for classic rock band Steely Dan, was arrested at his New York City on Monday, January 4 for allegedly assaulting his wife, musician Libby Titus, 69, according to Rolling Stone. Donald was charged with misdemeanor assault and released from jail on the morning of Tuesday, January 5 without bail after his arraignment at the Manhattan Criminal Court.
“[Titus] and Fagen were involved in a verbal dispute, at which point he grabbed her by the arm and pushed her. She fell, bruising her arm,” an NYPD spokesperson told Rolling Stone. Donald allegedly pushed Libby into a marble window frame, according to the criminal complaint, “causing her to fall onto the frame and suffer bruising and swelling to her right arm, as well as substantial pain”
Donald was charged with one count each of assault and harassment in the incident that allegedly occurred at 5:30pm on January 4, inside their Upper East Side apartment. Additionally, Donald was issued an order of protection to stay away from Libby. She spoke to The New York Post about the incident, which left her with a bruised arm and raised bump, according to police. “I don’t feel good,” Libby told The Post over the phone. “I’m very tired and I’m divorcing my husband.”
