Ben wasn’t the one for Kaitlyn Bristowe, but now he’s ready to meet the Future Mrs. Higgins — and on the premiere he met a lot of options.
At 26, Ben Higgins is officially ready for love and is using The Bachelor to find it. He kicked off the season with a tour of his hometown, a little love advice from Sean Lowe, Chris Soules and Jason Mesnick, and then a hug from Chris Harrison. But let’s get to the important stuff: the ladies!

Here’s a few that stood out (to me):
Caila, 25, left her boyfriend when seeing Ben on Kaitlyn’s season and actually ran and jumped in Ben’s arms; Jennifer pulled a “Ben and Jen” line; Jami actually knew Kaitlyn in Canada (awk) and Joelle/JoJo got out wearing a unicorn mask; Tiara was a chicken enthusiast who wasn’t sure if the chicken or the “ben” came first; Mandi was dressed as a first impression rose and said, “maybe if things go well tonight, you can pollinate it later.” And then there was Lace (wearing a lace dress), who came out of the limo and kissed him because she wanted the first one. A few other memorable/WTF moments were Maegan‘s arrival, with her mini horse, Huey; Jackie‘s decision to bring Ben a save the date for their wedding (hey, at least she came up with a cute hashtag: #ToHigginsAndToHold); and Rachel, who may be unemployed, but can somehow still afford a hover board to arrive on. My favorite went to Olivia, who was super uncomfortable but adorable! Ben seemed to agree.
So, after the initial group was introduced, Ben went in and was interrupted by Mandi while giving his intro to the group — she asked for alone time, then examined his teeth. She’s a dentist so apparently that’s fine on a first date.
Ben continued with his 1-1 time when Becca and Amber, both from Chris’ season, arrived — and seriously shocked the girls and Ben. Lace, who was basically drunk by this point, was so threatened by Becca that she pulled Ben aside and asked him for another kiss; he actually said no, but did explain to her that he didn’t want to get “sucked up in the physical part!” He even came and found her later to make sure she knew he wasn’t rejecting her. Seriously, stand up guy (well done, ABC!).
Ben had a really hard time figuring out who to give the first impression rose to, but ended up giving it to Olivia, a not so crazy one who was stunning. Not going to lie, I called that — he was in awe of her from the minute she stepped out of the limo! So, who got the cut after night one?
Breanne (the bread breaker), Tiara (the chicken girl), Meagan (the mini horse owner), Lauren R., Isabel/Izzy (the one in a onesie), Laura (red velvet), and Jessica were all eliminated.
Lace got the last rose and apparently that wasn’t okay with her — right after he said goodbye to others, she pulled him aside again because he didn’t make eye contact with her. Yup, that’s real life, and Ben was definitely aware of her drama radar being real high. You can re-watch the six craziest quotes from the episode here! Did you love the premiere? This is how we prefer to sum it up:
