As Miss Colombia deals with the humiliation over being accidentally crowned Miss Universe, she’s starting to think it wasn’t a mistake at all! Ariadna Gutierrez suggested she was used as a ratings ploy and agrees with — of all people — Donald Trump that she should also be Miss Universe!
Ariadna Gutierrez, 22, is doing her best to get over being part of Miss Universe’s biggest joke, after Steve Harvey, 58, accidentally crowned her instead of the correct winner. But the more she thinks about it, the more she agrees with Donald Trump, 69, and that it wasn’t actually an accident!
“If [higher ratings] was the goal, they succeeded,” Miss Colombia said during a Dec. 30 interview on Colombia’s W radio, according to E! News. Considering that for the first time since like, ever, the world was a-buzz over Miss Universe, Ariadna has a right to suspect that the “mistake” was actually planned in advanced.
It’s unfortunate that Donald, the former owner, can’t do anything to rectify the mistake. He sold the Miss Universe pageant to WWE/IMG in September. However, that doesn’t mean he couldn’t offer advice to the new owners. Donald tweeted his disappointment over the screw-up as it happened, before suggesting that both Ariadna and Miss Philippines, Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach, be named co-winners. “For the first time,” Miss Colombia said to W radio, “I agree with him.”
That’s a big deal! Donald was actually forced to buy back part of the Miss Universe pageant from NBCUniversal over his controversial comments over Mexicans and other Latinos. Though Miss Colombia might disagree with him over his remarks over Syrian refugees, immigrants and women, at least they can come together on how to fix one of the biggest mistakes in Miss Universe’s history.
Though Ariadna has been a good loser, handling the flub the best way she can, she still admitted it felt “very humiliating” to have the crown taken from her. Plus, she thinks it was also humiliating “for the whole country and all the people, not only from Colombia, but the other Latinos that were in the auditorium.” So it seems Miss Universe not only owes Ariadna a crown, but a crown for Miss Colombia’s whole country!
Miss Philippines may be down to sharing the spotlight with Miss Colombia, as Pia has included Ariadna in all her Miss Universe celebrations. “We are now bonded together and forever and ever by a unique experience,” she wrote in an open letter. “In the last 3 weeks we were together, I saw how strong and beautiful you are inside and out.”
What do you think about Miss Colombia agreeing with Donald Trump, HollywoodLifers? Do you think he has the right idea and there should be a co-winner?
