They’re two of the best squads in the Premier League and they’re going head-to-head on Dec. 29. Manchester City faces Leicester City in a battle of soccer’s best and HollywoodLife.com wants to make sure you watch this epic match!
Leicester City has gone from one of the worst teams in the Premier League to one of the best. The Foxes are on a hot streak this season, but Manchester City is looking to rain on Leicester City’s parade. Which of these two titans of the field will end up one step closer to taking the Premier championship?
Manchester City will travel to King Power Stadium on Dec. 29 to face the Foxes on their home field, reports NBC Sports. The battle between these two Premier league powerhouses kicks off at 2:45 PM EST, so be ready to see some of the best soccer action around. It’s going to be a good one!
Leicester’s Jamie Vardy, the top scorer in the Premier League, will be healthy to play against Man City. Jamie was taken out of the Dec. 26 loss against Liverpool at the 69th minute, reports Sky Sports. Jamie was playing with a fever, and though the Foxes ended their 10-game winning streak, they didn’t want to lose their star player. Going into the match with Man City, Leicester City hasn’t lost two games in a row all season and this has inspired respect in the Blues’ manager, Manuel Pellegrini.
“Leicester are top of the table because they deserve to be,” he said, according to the Manchester Evening News. “They have very important players in a very good moment with high performance.” In addition to Jamie Vardy, Leicester City also has Riyah Mahrez, who has scored 13 goals throughout the season for the Foxes. Despite this respect, Man City still thinks they’re going to leave King Power Stadium with a victory and possibly first place. City is riding high after trashing Sunderland, 4-1, on Dec. 26, reports the Daily Mail. Still, it was a bittersweet victory. Captain Vincent Kompany attempted to make his comeback during that game, but after playing for just nine minutes, he was taken out with a calf injury. City has lost 35% of their games without Vincent.
Will the missing defender lead to the Blues’ downfall? Striker Sergio Aguero, could be used as a substitute. Sadly, City has been bitten badly by the injury bug, as Pablo Zabaleta and Fernando are not yet ready to play.
Leicester lost both of their league meetings with Man City last season, so the Blues are hoping to get the better of the Foxes. However, Leicester has won the final league match of the calendar year for three years straight. With both teams in contention for the Premier League championship, which one will get the much-needed momentum going into 2016?
