Congrats are in order for Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Peta Murgatroyd! The ‘DWTS’ pros and longtime couple are engaged! And the whole thing happened onstage! That is going to be one epic first dance at their wedding!
Peta Murgatroyd received something even shinier than the Mirrorball trophy on December 5. Boyfriend and fellow Dancing With The Stars pro, Maksim Chmerkovskiy, got down on one knee and asked her to marry him during the Sway dance event at the Olympia Theater in Miami — onstage no less! To the screams of a shocked audience (and an even more shocked Peta!), Maksim asked her to love him forever — with a HUGE diamond ring!
How romantic is this? The magic moment happened on the third night of performances at the SWAY dance event, which is produced by Maksim and his brother, Val Chmerkovskiy. While still onstage in their dance costumes, Maksim suddenly got down on one knee in front of Peta and announced, “I’m in love with you.”
“I’ve got a lot of words,” Maksim told his soon to-be bride. “But I’ll just take this moment and be speechless, and I’ll just say that I love you. And I want to be in love with you for the rest of my life. Dear Peta Murgatroyd, will you marry me?” Oh my god! Of course she said yes! How could she not after that insane display of love?
Peta was the one who was speechless, laughing, smiling and crying as he asked her to share her life with him, forever. The crowd, which included Meryl Davis, Rumer Willis and Tony Dovolani, went absolutely crazy when Maksim popped the question. Lucky for all of us, that intrepid audience member let us see the whole thing happen on Instagram. And lucky for Peta, Maksim gave her a gorgeous, massive rock to seal the deal!
Peta and Maksim dated for 10 months between 2012 and 2013, but wound up splitting. Their love couldn’t be denied, though, and of course they got back together. It’s such a relief that they did; they found their soulmates! Now what kind of epic routine do you think they’ll perform for their first dance at the wedding?
HollywoodLifers, help us send our congratulations to Maksim and Peta in the comments!
