The shade is REAL! Soul Train Awards host Erykah Badu dissed Iggy Azalea big time at the Nov. 29 awards show, saying her music is ‘definitely not rap.’ Click to WATCH!
The diss level was at an all-time high at the 2015 Soul Train Awards. During host Erykah Badu’s opening monologue, the singer, 44, totally slammed Iggy Azalea, 25. She threw serious shade at Iggy’s rap career and said whatever Iggy’s been doing is “definitely not rap.” OUCH.
In Erykah’s opening monologue at the Las Vegas’ Orleans Arena, she pretended to call up celebrities and invite them to the show. The diss was meant to emphasize that rap was more or less “banned” from the Soul Train Awards because the show focuses on R&B artists.
“Uh yes? Who is this? Iggy Azalea?” Erykah said in her monologue. “Yeah, hey. Oh no no no no, you can come, ’cause what you doin’ is definitely not rap.”
The crowd instantly went wild over the diss. It was that brutal! Iggy — whose album you can buy here — hasn’t responded to the shade, but it shouldn’t take long. Disses aren’t exactly a new thing for Iggy.

Nicki Minaj notoriously threw shade at Iggy at the 2014 BET Awards by insinuating that Iggy didn’t write her own songs. Iggy said she was “unbothered” by Nicki’s diss, but it seems like Iggy can’t catch a break when it comes to awards show disses.
Erykah also isn’t the first person to take aim at Iggy’s music career. Sportscenter anchor Robert Flores accused the rapper of “trying to kill hip hop” back in March 2015. Iggy’s fiance Nick Young defended his lady love when he caught wind of the shade. Can’t we all just get along?
