The annual Pirelli Calendar is finally here! Instead of showcasing some of the world’s sexiest models, this year inspiring females were chosen to pose for the highly-anticipated shoot, which includes a topless Amy Schumer, Serena Williams, and more!
From artists to athletes, the 2016 Pirelli Calendar is completely ground-breaking — and we’re so excited that the stunning shots have finally been revealed! While the calendar usually features nude photos of famous models, (like Gigi Hadid and Adriana Lima!), this year it was all about inspiring women, as famed photog Annie Leibovitz captured Serena Williams, Amy Schumer, Patti Smith, Yoko Ono, Kathleen Kennedy, and more esteemed females.
Our fave funny lady, Amy Schumer, posed in nothing more than string underwear and a pair of sandals in the black and white shot, as she gingerly holds a coffee cup to her mouth, her arm covering her chest. While we’re used to seeing practically perfect shots of nude models, this image paints a more realistic portrait — and the star looks beautiful. Serena modeled in just a pair of briefs as she posed with her back to the camera, all while showing off her amazing athletic physique. The calendar was unveiled at the Roundhouse in London on Nov. 30. “I started to think about the roles that women play, women who have achieved something. I wanted to make a classic set of portraits. I thought that the women should look strong but natural and I decided to keep it a very simple exercise of shooting in the studio. This calendar is so completely different. It is a departure. The idea was not to have any pretense in these pictures and be very straightforward,” Amy Leibovitz said of the 2016 shoot.
