The Toronto Raptors decided they needed some love from Drake. The NBA team celebrated ‘Drake Night’ on Nov. 26 and while Drizzy watched the game with his mom, the Raptors made his ‘Hotline Bling.’ And, of course, he answered! Click to watch his response.
Let’s hear it for Drizzy! The Toronto Raptors honored their hometown hero, Drake, 29, with a special “Drake Night” celebration. The basketball team also wanted to send some love to the “Hotline Bling” singer and they figured the best way to do it would be by calling him up on his cell phone. Sorta.
Drake answered the call during Nov. 26 game between the Raptors and the Cleveland Cavaliers, reports E! News. Drizzy sat courtside with his mother, Sandi Graham, and together, they enjoyed a night of excellent basketball action. Of course, no “Drake Night” would be complete without a shout-out to his latest hit.
When “Hotline Bling” started playing inside the Air Canada Centre, Drake responded with a bright smile. He “picked up the phone,” before busting out some of his trademark dance moves in his seat. This wasn’t the first time basketball fans saw Drake dancing his song at a game, as he also showed off during a Nov. 7 Clippers game.
We can’t blame him for grooving to it whenever he can. “Hotline Bling” might just be the jam of the year — or, at least, the dance of the year. Everyone seems to be feeling it, from Bernie Sanders to even Donald Trump (who awkwardly mocked Drake during his SNL appearance.) Lil Wayne went ahead and dropped a remix of the song, but Drake would love to work on a version featuring Adele.
Drizzy wasn’t the only one recreating his music video that night, as the Raptors set up a “Hotline Bling Booth,” where anyone could get their “Drake dance” moves on. Toronto City Councilor Norm Kelly joined The Raptor to give Drake a run for his money. Get your own “Hotline Bling” by purchasing it on Amazon HERE.
One of the best parts of “Drake Night” was when Drizzy announced the starting line-up. Drake psyched his team up while on the mic, even cracking jokes about LeBron James’s mustache. It must have given the team the extra edge, because they won the game, 103-99, reports ESPN.
