A gunman opened fire at the Colorado Springs branch of Planned Parenthood on Nov. 27. The attack left three police officers with injuries, but the gunman has thankfully ‘been contained,’ according to the latest report.
Police responded to a report of an active shooter at the Planned Parenthood clinic in Colorado Springs, Colorado. While there haven’t been any reported fatalities from this attack, three officers have been hurt in the line of duty. The shooter has been “contained” by the authorities.
Colorado Spring police “swarmed” the scene of an reported shooting near the Planned Parenthood clinic on Nov. 27, reports Reuters. Three police officers have sustained injuries during the incident. While earlier reports had the shooter still at large, the assailant has been “contained” by the police, according to the Associated Press.
Denise Speller, a manager of a nearby hair salon, told The Gazette of Colorado Springs that she heard as many as “20 gunshots” in the span of five minutes. She also said that a police cruiser and two officers near a Chase Bank branch near the clinic. The shooter was “contained,” around 12:54 p.m., Colorado Springs time, according to Lt. Kirk Wilson, a police spokesman. Lt. Wilson added that they were working to “extricate” an injured officer at the scene.
The city’s fire department first tweeted about the situation at 11:45 a.m. The police then followed up by tweeting that “The area is NOT SECURE.” A dozen reported officers showed up at the scene, with SWAT soon being called in.
“We were looking out the window and we had an officer wave us back inside,” eyewitness Brigitte Wolfe told the Denver Post. Brigitte, who works at the Jun Japanese Restaurant near the Planned Parenthood clinic, said that police “have everything blocked off.” At this point in time, it is unknown if there are any civilian casualties or any more injured than the three reported officers.

Sadly, this incident comes on the heels of an Oct. 31 shooting. A gunman began firing near downtown Colorado Springs, killing three people before dying during a shootout with the police, reports the New York Post.
