Congratulations Charlie the Skye Terrier! The adorable pup was crowned champion of the 2015 National Dog Show on Nov. 26! Get more info about Charlie and this year’s competition below!
What better way to gear up for a big Thanksgiving feast than by watching 2,000 canines compete for Best In Show at the The National Dog Show? In the famed competition’s 14th year, a Skye Terrier named Charlie took home the title, and what a good looking dog he is!
Charlie name beat out more than 170 breeds — including seven new additions this year — as nearly 20 million people watched Purina’s annual televised event. With his long gray hair and bouncy black ears, Charlie certainly stood out amongst the rest! His handler, Larry Cornelius, did an amazing job preparing Charlie for some tough competition, because he practically made it look easy!
This win marks a whopping 79 Best In Show wins for Charlie. Last year’s winner, Nathan the Bloodhound, had won the title 24 times, so clearly Charlie is a pro — and his handler thinks so, too!
“I’m kind of biased, but I think he’s an exceptional show dog,” Larry said after Charlie’s win. Although Larry admitted that Skye Terriers aren’t always the best show dogs, Charlie proves that wrong! “He really gives his eart every time I show him.”
As a member of the Terrier Group, Charlie’s win ended the two-year winning streak that the Hound Group had at the National Dog Show with Nathan’s win last year. Charlie’s win is the sixth time a terrier has won Best In Show, but the first for a Skye Terrier! Considering his winning past, Charlie certainly deserves to hold that honor!
