Kody Brown and his multiple wives have worked hard so they could live their polygamous lifestyle, but the children of the ‘Sister Wives’ stars say it’s not for them! During the Nov. 22 tell-all special, Kody’s kids rejected polygamy, saying it’s ‘simply not what we’re meant to do.’
It seems the apple does fall far from the tree. Kody Brown, 46, and his wives famously live in a polygamous household on Sister Wives, but some of his kids will not follow in their father’s footsteps. While sitting down for a tell-all interview, members of the Brown family said they’ve decided to not practice “plural marriage.”
“I think I’ve just grown a lot over the past few years,” Kody’s daughter Mariah told Today’s Tamron Hall during the Nov. 22 “Tell-All” episode, reports Us Weekly. Mariah was reportedly the first of Kody’s children to reject the plural marriage lifestyle, and she wasn’t the last. Mariah said that after “[taking] a step back and maybe though more about what I want and how I want my life to turn out.”
Aspyn, Kody and Christine Brown’s daughter, joined her half-sister in turning down his family’s tradition. “I don’t want to do plural marriage,” she said. “I kind of feel bad that none of us want to, but it was just not what we were meant to do, I guess.” If you want to see what Asypn and her siblings are talking about, watch all of Sister Wives here on Amazon.
Wow. Kody and his wives — spiritual wives Christine, Janelle Brown, ex-wife Meri Brown and legal wife, Robyn Brown — have faced many challenges over their lifestyle. They’ve gone to court to defend polygamy and have faced the law when it came for Kody to adopt Robyn’s children. Plus, even members of the Brown family who don’t want to practice polygamy were rejected by the Mormon Church. Perhaps Kody’s children don’t see the practice as worth the struggle?
While Aspyn’s brother Paedon said he “believe(s)” in his family’s religion and “in the faith,” he doesn’t think he could live with multiple wives. His older sister, Mykelti, said “I’m not going to live polygamy. I don’t think that’s for me. I don’t think I could ever live up to what my parents have been able to do.” Kody and Janelle son, Garrison, also said that “one’s enough for me,” while his older sister, Madison, also said she’s “not one to live plural marriage.”
While these five Brown children have turned down their father’s lifestyle, Kody has 17 children in total. So, despite some of his kids saying they won’t practice polygamy, the Brown family tradition may very well continue.
Are you surprised that some of Kody’s children have rejected polygamy, HollywoodLifers?
