Wow, this is so scary. More than a month after Lamar Odom’s hospitalization, Khloe Kardashian is opening up about what it was like to get the phone call that her ex had fallen into a coma, and reveals for the first time that she was originally told he only had four hours to live.
We can’t even imagine what it was like for Khloe Kardashian to get the news that her estranged husband, Lamar Odom, had been rushed to the hospital and was comatose. But in a new interview, the reality star is opening up about the terrifying and emotional experience, and she’s revealing some shocking new information about L.O’s first few hours under doctors’ care.
“They told me that he had four hours. It’s a horrible call to get,” the 31-year-old said on the Today Show. “Getting to the hospital and knowing he’s in a coma and having to run these tests or make medical decisions…it’s terrifying. You have to make risk and reward decisions. Like, ok, theres an 80 percent chance if we do this operation he might pass away, but also if we don’t do it, theres a 90 percent chance he’ll pass away. So just having to make these executive decisions is hard on anybody, so it was definitely probably one of the most emotionally stressful times ever in my life.”
As we know, the former NBA star made it well past those expected four hours — it’s been a month and a week since he was admitted to Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas. And, while he still has a long road of recovery, he’s expected to get back to a pretty good place. “He’s okay. Every day is different,” Khloe explained. “The great thing is he’s off of medical machines that will keep him alive. He is learning how to walk again and learning cognitive therapy and speech thearapy. They think within a year and a half to two years, mentally, he might be fully recovered, but they don’t know.”
The Keeping Up With The Kardashians star has been by Lamar’s side nearly every day since his hospitalization, but she’ll, unfortunately, have to spend some time away — because she contracted a staph infection at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center! The infection is “really bad,” according to TMZ, and Khloe’s symptoms include a high fever and swollen glands. “She’s also sweating profusely with intermittent chills,” the site reports. “It’s so scary. She’s so sick.”
“Going back to the hospital should not occur until the infection is brought under control, lest she spread it to the hospitalized patients,” Dr. Barry M. Rose from San Francisco’s California Pacific Medical Center told HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY. “Unless she needs to go to the hospital to get treated or get surgery herself.” Yikes, Khloe better stay away for now!
