OMG! Just days after One Direction’s new album dropped, Zayn Malik released the first teaser for his solo song, ‘Befour,’ in a new interview with ‘Fader.’ Click inside to WATCH & LISTEN!
Zayn Malik, 22, is finally ready to unveil his solo music to the world. In a slightly odd little short film, the former One Direction singer is teasing the instrumental version of his song, “Befour,” just about four days after the group released their latest album, Made In The A.M.
It’s here! Finally! In a short 2-minute video interview for Fader, the British bad boy of pop music gets shirtless and rides a motorbike at his home in North London as a sultry tune plays in the background. The song? Zayn’s own solo track, “Befour,” which could possibly be his first single. Holy post-boy band batman!
The song can only be heard as instrumental, and for a short period of time during the video Zayn talks over the music about how different the sound will be from anything he did with 1D. If you listen closely, you’ll hear a really smooth and modern track that sounds like it could definitely be the background to a sick R&B song. However, we’ll have to wait a little longer until we know exactly what the full song sounds like!
You’ll also hear Zayn explain that his solo music was influenced by Bollywood and 90’s R&B and rap, which he credits to his childhood and listening to his dad’s old records.
As for lyrical content? “Life experiences” and “stuff that I’ve been through, especially in the last five years, being in a band.” He also shares that most of his album was recorded “out in the woods,” which is pretty unusual. How many artists can say they’ve recorded a studio album without a studio? Zayn continues to tell viewers that the music is fully his own perspective, which he felt was “liberating” compared to collaborating with four other artists.
The FULL interview with Zayn will be released on Tuesday evening at 6pm ET on Fader. CLICK HERE to check it out once it’s live!
