The Top 11 on Season 9 of ‘The Voice’ has been revealed! Only one contestant was eliminated on the Nov. 17 episode, and it was heartbreaking to see [SPOILER] be the only coach to lose a team member as viewers took control of the results via their votes. Read our full recap & find out who went home here!
After a night of incredible performances, the hard part of The Voice came on Nov. 17. In a tense elimination episode, one contestant was sent home, leaving only 11 left to compete for winner of Season 9. Blake Shelton, Gwen Stefani, Adam Levine and Pharrell could do nothing but watch on as Carson Daly read the results, calculated solely based on America’s votes.
The episode immediately kicked off with some results, and not surprisingly, Jordan Smith from Team Adam, a frontrunner since the Blind Auditions, was first to make it through. Gwen’s contestant, Jeffery Austin, who had his breakout moment in the Nov. 16 episode, was also announced safe, leaving the rest of the singers hanging about their fate.
They didn’t have to wait long, though, because after a quick commercial break and briefing with the coaches, Carson brought the ten remaining contestants back on stage for more results. Team Blake’s Emily Ann Roberts and Madi Davis from Team Pharrell were next to be called safe, giving each coach representation in the Top 11.
To break things up, Blake, whose latest album you can buy here, took the stage next with his team members, Emily Ann, Barrett Baber and Zach Seabaugh to give a performance of “Lean On Me,” and with all four of them being country artists, it was a perfectly cohesive rendition. Loved it! The fun didn’t last long, though, because the eight remaining contestants were brought back to center stage next to continue the results, and Carson announced Braiden Sunshine, from Gwen’s team, along with plane crash survivor Barrett, a fan-favorite from Team Blake, and Adam’s unique artist Amy Vachal will all be moving on.
Pharrell sang his own song, “Just A Cloud Away,” with his artists, Madi, Evan McKeel and Mark Hood, next, and it was such a fun performance to watch! As reigning champ, the singer is as dedicated to his team as ever, and we loved watching them all unite for this one. Unfortunately, next up was the time for Carson to reveal the Bottom 2 artists, who would each get to perform one more song in the hopes of being America’s Instant Save on Twitter. With Evan, Shelby Brown (Team Adam) and Zach all safe, that left Mark and Gwen’s Korin Bukowski to fight for that final spot.
To prove he belongs in the Top 11, Mark sang “Signed, Sealed, Delivered, I’m Yours,” and it brought back everything the viewers, along with Pharrell, fell in love with about him from the very beginning. Korin was also on her A-game, though, and she killed it, too, with her rendition of “Don’t Know Why.” The decision was once again left in America’s hands, and the winner was decided based on a five-minute Twitter vote. Finally, it was revealed that Korin was saved, meaning Mark won’t be returning next week. We’ll miss you — and Pharrell’s team will really have to pick it up to keep their coach in this thing!
