Twitter exploded after Charlie Sheen sat down with Matt Lauer on Nov. 17 and revealed that he is HIV-positive. Fans and haters took to Twitter to express what they think of the actor’s shocking announcement.
Hate him or love him, Charlie Sheen has just revealed he is HIV-positive, in a shocking new interview. The 50-year-old actor made the announcement in a sit down interview with Matt Lauer on The Today Show and he mainly had support from fans on Twitter but there were unfortunately some mean-spirited comments too.
“I’m here to admit that I am in fact HIV-positive,” he told Matt. “I have to put an end to these truths. It [all] started with crushing headaches and sweating the bed 2-3 nights — I thought it was over.” He also said: “It’s a hard three letters to absorb, you know? It’s a turning point in one’s life.”
Charlie also revealed that he has paid various people, including prostitutes, millions to keep quiet about his diagnosis. “I have paid those people — not that many — but enough to where it has depleted the future.” How many people? “Enough to bring it into the millions. What people forget is that that’s money they’re taking from my children. They think it’s just me, but I have five kids and a granddaughter.” Charlie vehemently denies that he has knowingly had sex with individuals and transmitted the disease. “Impossible. Impossible,” he said. But he also says: “Yes. But the two people that I did [have unprotected sex with] … they were completely warned ahead of time.” Charlie also added: “I have a responsibility now to better myself and to help a lot of other people.”
Charlie says he has told his eldest daughter, Cassandra Jade Estevez, 30, that he had with his high school girlfriend, Paula Profit. Charlie also revealed that he told his ex-wife, Denise Richards and together they have two girls, Sam J. Sheen, 11, and 10-year-old Lola Rose Sheen — none of them are infected with the disease. Charlie and his ex-wife, Brooke Mueller also have 6-year-old twin boys, Bob and Max Sheen. When Brooke responded to HollywoodLife.com‘s inquiry on Charlie’s health she said, “no comment.”
