Charlie Sheen is HIV positive, HollywoodLife can confirm, and a source EXCLUSIVELY revealed to us that his infamous meltdown in 2011 was actually a result of his diagnosis. We have the intense details.

Remember when Charlie Sheennow 50, was having a full-blown meltdown about “tiger blood” and having “adonis DNA” back in 2011? Well, a source has EXCLUSIVELY revealed to HollywoodLife.com that the breakdown actually came on the heels of Charlie’s HIV diagnosis, as a way “to prove his invincibility.”

“Charlie has been HIV positive for a few years,” a source EXCLUSIVELY told HollywoodLife about Charlie’s diagnosis, which he will reportedly disclose on the Nov. 17 episode of The Today Show. “When he went through his meltdown a few years ago with “tiger blood” and “winning” was when he found out,” they added.

It turns out, the whole “tiger blood” craziness wasn’t as random as we all thought– it was actually Charlie’s way of coping with the difficult news. “The ‘tiger blood’ reference was when he found out and he said it and used it to prove his invincibility,” said the source. “He honestly didn’t accept the fact that he had it and was convincing himself in every way that he didn’t have it.”

Sadly, things went from bad to worse for Charlie following the diagnosis, and his behavior began to spiral. “That is when he started ruining his relationships with his exes and [Two and a Half Men creator] Chuck Lorre,” said the source. “He went to the dark places he went to because he really thought that the HIV he caught was a death sentence. It was and is a nightmare for him.”
