In today’s beauty world, there are nice eyebrows, and then there are Cara Delevingne‘s eyebrows. The model-turned-actress is almost single-handily responsible for sparking the fuller eyebrow trend in recent years, inspiring everything from brow extensions to her very own products. But while Cara herself may be blessed with inherently perfect arches, not all of us are that lucky. Thankfully, that’s where Charlotte Tilbury comes in. The celebrity makeup artist not only works on Cara’s famous features from time-to-time, but also recently unveiled Cara’s own go-to brow product. Charlotte, who is also the founder of her eponymous beauty line, has known Cara for more than a decade and often grooms the Suicide Squad star‘s hairs into place with her best-selling Brow Lift pencil in the shade Cara D — an ode to the 23-year-old supermodel turned actress. “I’m inspired by the ‘Supermodel Brow’ of the nineties to create the perfect shape,” she writes on the product page. “It stars slightly squared off at the inner corner, tappers into a perfect arch and finishes into a fine point.”
To get Cara’s look at home, Charlotte recommends in her online video tutorial that you start by shaping your brows using the brush end of the pencil. For a natural look, brush the brows upwards, which will help groom the hairs into place and eliminate excess color build-up.
Next, align the tool vertically with the base of your nose and the top of the brow, to pinpoint exactly where your brow begins. Using the pencil, mark that spot with a dot and then move the pencil diagonally across the pupil to determine where your arch lays, marking that spot as well. Next, aligning the tool vertically with the base of the nose again, move it towards the outer corner of your eye and draw a mark to determine where your brow should end.
To fill in the brows for a fuller look like Cara’s, Charlotte suggests using the pointy end of the pencil to draw in similar brush strokes in the same direction that your hair naturally grows. For a more natural look, she also recommends that you use a shade that matches your hair color or is one shade lighter. And for those of us with sparser brows, you can fake a little extra lift by also adding a few strokes above the arch.
To complete the bold brow look, use the pencil’s built-in highlighter to accentuate the shape of your brow, which will give your look an extra bit of lift. Finish with a coat or two of mascara and voila, you’ve got yourself some Cara-approved brows and all with one easy-to-use product!
