Members of the Southern California band Eagles Of Death Metal made it out safely after an attack at their Paris concert Nov. 13 killed over 112 of their fans. The band was playing at the Bataclan Theater when four gunmen broke in and opened fire.
So scary. The Eagles Of Death Metal were playing their sold out concert at the Bataclan Theater when the deadly attack occurred, one of up to six coordinated attacks across Paris on Nov. 13. The band made it out safely but unfortunately 112 of their fans were killed inside the theater. They were initially held hostage but were slaughtered inside the theater before police stormed the concert hall.
Their opening act, The Red Lemons, posted to their Facebook that “For our American and English friends, a terrorist attack happened at the Eagles of death metal concert. We are safe. (Band members) Mikel Ross, Eric McFadden we were with your mates Jesse, Tuesday, the other musicians outside, they’re safe too, they took a cab,” the band shared.
The wife of drummer Julian Dorio told The Washington Post that he and other band members are OK. “We are just holding our breath and saying prayers for everyone,” Emily Dorio said. “(Julian) called to say that he loved me and he was safe. Everyone on stage was able to get off.” What a relief!
The Eagles Of Death Metal had earlier put out a statement via their Facebook that “We are still currently trying to determine the safety and whereabouts of all our band and crew. Our thoughts are with all of the people involved in this tragic situation.”
Before the two gunmen entered the theater and opened fire, the band was wrapping up it’s show to a packed house of 1,200 concert goers, as several which shared photos of the band performing via Instagram before the tragedy occurred. Four gunmen armed with assault rifles burst in and opened fire, and while many concert members were able to flee the carnage, scores of people were initially held hostage, and 112 were eventually killed inside the theater. Journalist Jim Sciutto tweeted “Escaped hostage from
#Bataclan tells #CNN terrorists calmly executed hostages, reloaded, executed again in silence.” So tragic!
