Wow. Justin Bieber just got really real in a new interview, and the results are going to make you want to cry. Justin said he’s ‘depressed all the time,’ and draws some terrifying similarities between him and the late Amy Winehouse. You’ve got to read what he has to say, here.
Fame can be scary, people, and Justin Bieber, 21, just described exactly how frightening it can get in a new interview. He said he can relate to Amy Winehouse when she was spiraling out of control, and that he’s “depressed all the time.” It’s very dark, very sad, and very honest.
Oh, no. Justin has been talking about going through a rough patch lately, which caused him to lose touch with his mom and cheat on Selena Gomez, 23, but his new interview with NME takes his honesty a step further into the deep, dark corners of his soul. Believe us when we say, it’s not easy to read. “[I get depressed] all the time, and I feel isolated,” says Justin. “You’re in your hotel room and there are fans all around, paparazzi following you everywhere, and it gets intense. When you can’t go anywhere or do anything alone you get depressed. I would not wish this upon anyone.” So heartbreaking.
Even scarier, is that in those dark moments, Justin relates to another troubled celebrity, Amy Winehouse. Amy’s story ended tragically, and Justin feels like his could have ended the same. “I could see what the media was doing to her, how they were treating her,” says Justin. “People thought it was funny to poke her when she was at rock bottom, to keep pushing her down until she had no more of herself. And that’s what they were trying to do to me.”
We hate that Justin had to feel this way, especially starting at such a young age. He shares how he felt that he was expected to live up to an impossible standard set for him as a little kid, and how he was judged much more harshly for his squeaky clean image. “If you see Ghandi roll up a blunt, it’s different to seeing Ryan Gosling roll up a blunt. You wouldn’t give Ryan Gosling a hard time. I just want people to know I’m human. I’m struggling just to get through the days. I think a lot of people are.”
We’ve been seeing a very real, very genuine side of Justin lately, and it’s making us rethink all of the times he disappointed us. It’s hard to grow up in the public eye and all things considered, Justin seems to be pretty kind and well-adjusted. We see wonderful things in his future, and we can’t wait to see where his talent and positive attitude take him next.
