Is it the invasion of the saucer-men or just a case of weird weather? On Nov. 8, the sky in Cape Town, South Africa was full of UFO-shaped clouds, one day after Los Angeles had its own alien spaceship scare. Is Earth under attack? Click to see the pics.
Where are Agents Mulder and Scully when you need them? South Africa looked like an episode of The X-Files (or possibly, District 9) as UFO-shaped-clouds floated overhead. A day after California experienced its own “alien invasion,” South African residents were getting ready for Mars Attacks to become real life before a meteorologists assured everyone to stay calm!
The alien-looking clouds appeared over Cape Town, South Africa on Nov. 8, according to Fox 8 news. While some people were worried that this was sign of an alien invasion, the saucer-shaped clouds were actually a common weather occurrence. Derek Van Dam, meteorologist for CNN, pointed out that the shapes were not spaceships, but lenticular clouds.
“They form when conditions are just right,” Derek reportedly wrote on Facebook. “Air flows along the surface of the Earth and reaches some sort of obstruction like a mountain or valley.” Hmm. Or maybe that’s what he WANTS you to believe?!
Still, it’s a bit weird that these South African saucers would appear a day after the Los Angeles UFO scare. Residents in California spotted a “strange object” appearing as an orange light in the Nov. 7 night sky. After it turned into a giant blue light in a “circular haze,” many were wondering if it was finally proof that alien life had visited earth.
Even celebs wondered if we were about to be invaded. Khloe Kardashian and Kendall Jenner were both freaking out over what they saw overhead. Josh Groban was also scared and even claimed he was abducted! However, the aliens are friendly, as they returned the singer in time for his yoga class.
Sadly, it wasn’t an spaceship. Though it won’t stop conspiracy theorists from saying it was a UFO, the United States Navy said that what everyone saw over Los Angeles was a test flight of a deactivated missile, launched from a submarine off the coast of San Diego. The Trident II (D5) missile wasn’t armed, but that didn’t stop people from preparing for the invasion!
Do you believe that they were just clouds and a missile, HollywoodLifers? Or do you think UFOs visited us?
