After 16 months of fighting cervical cancer, Country singer Joey Feek has sadly entered hospice. Her husband, Rory Feek, is documenting their last days together on his blog and in a heartbreaking new post, he reassured everyone that Joey is ‘at peace’ with going.
Singer Joey Feek, 40, was rushed to the hospital on Nov. 6 because the pain from her terminal cancer “had become too much to bare,” Rory Feek, her husband, explained on his personal blog. Rory wrote that “hospice is arranged” and there will be a carpet near Joey’s bed to make sure their one-year-old daughter, Indiana, can still see her momma while she rests.
After Joey was rushed to the hospital, Rory wrote this heartbreaking blog post:
“At 4 am on Friday morning we rushed Joey to the hospital in Muncie. Her pain had become too much to bare. A few hours later the doctors told us that the pain was from the cancer tumors continuing to grow and become inflamed and we need to concentrate now on helping her be comfortable. Not the answer we hoped for… but the answer He has given us.”
“Hospice is arranged and a hospital bed will be delivered later this morning. We’ll have a play area on the carpet nearby – close enough for her to watch Indy play, and for Indy to turn and make sure her mama can see her. Joey is at peace with where she is and where she’s going. So am I. An answer to prayer.”
