After years of ‘struggling,’ Gwen Stefani is starting to feel ‘hella good’ again, now that she’s seeing Blake Shelton. In a new interview, Gwen said she’s in a ‘real positive’ place after she split from her husband, Gavin Rossdale, and started dating her ‘The Voice’ co-star.
A new relationship can do wonders for a person’s outlook and Gwen Stefani, 46, is happier than she’s been in years. The “Used To Love You” singer revealed that she struggled during the last years of her marriage to Gavin Rossdale, 50, in a new interview, but since she started dating Blake Shelton, 39, Gwen’s in a much better state of mind!
“I’m in a real positive place now,” Gwen told InStyle for their Dec. 2015 issue, reports People, while explaining her troubles with balancing her family and career. “In the beginning, I didn’t want to think of myself as a mother. I was like ‘Wait a minute! Ain’t no hollaback girl is who I am!’ I had to learn to accept it.”
Unfortunately, accepting it came at the expense of her career. “I didn’t tour at all,” Gwen told InStyle. She did record the 2012 No Doubt album, Push And Shove, but that recording process was full of problems. “Every day, I would take the kids to school, drive to Santa Monica, work on the album and think ‘Oh my god, if I don’t leave by 2:30, I’m not gonna get home in time for dinner.’ And Gavin being on tour…”
It was all too much for her, and in Aug. 2015, Gwen filed for divorce. While splitting from Gavin helped Gwen feel better about her life, her new relationship with Blake surely has helped brighten her days. Gwen and Blake got cozy during Halloween, and the two confirmed their relationship on Nov. 4, right before the Country Music Awards. While some fans blasted Blake for moving on from Miranda Lambert so soon, Gwen is “on cloud nine” over her new romance.
While Blake may be giving Gwen plenty of reasons to smile, there’s another member of The Voice that helped her out of her rut. “[Pharrell Williams] helped me a lot of stuff,” Gwen told InStyle. “I was in a close-off period before that – I couldn’t write and I didn’t feel confident. There were hard times before the baby, personally, that were just not good. And then having Apollo, and being on the show, and being refreshed: It was just like, ‘Whoa!'”
What do you think about Gwen being in a “positive” place now, HollywoodLifers? Do you think her relationship with Blake is just what she needs?
