‘Mockingjay’ Twist: Did Jennifer Lawrence Reveal Change To ‘Hunger Games’ Ending?

Thu, November 5, 2015 3:31pm EDT by Lauren Cox 2 Comments

Um, has the ending of ‘Mockingjay’ been completely changed? Find out what Jennifer Lawrence had to say about a shocking potential spoiler at the London premiere.

Jennifer Lawrence, 25, either just put her foot in her mouth or totally spoiled a massive twist in how The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 2 will end up on the big screen. Uh oh, JLaw!

Standing on the red carpet at the Thursday. Nov. 6 red carpet premiere of Mockingjay, Part 2, aka the last of The Hunger Games film installments, Katniss herself may have given up a little too much information. It all went down when Jennifer was asked what one of the most difficult scenes to film was, and she claimed it was “Snow’s assassination.” Um, say what?

WARNING: MAJOR BOOK-TO-MOVIE SPOILERS BELOW!

As many The Hunger Games fans will know, even though Katniss spends a large amount of time in Mockingjay trying to figure out how to rip the Capitol rug out from underneath Snow, when it comes down to it Katniss makes a drastic but necessary change to the plan. Instead of shooting President Snow (Donald Sutherland) she quickly changes direction and shoots President Coin (Julianne Moore) dead. Nice knowing you, lady prez!

However, considering that the entire movie is leading up to Snow’s attempted assassination, Jennifer could totally just be playing this off so that she doesn’t spoil the ending for people who didn’t read the book. Possible? Yes, 100%.

If it turns out that this change is true, it’s a major plot twist for the film and leaves things a little more open ended for everyone involved. If she kills Snow instead of Coin, where does that leave Panem and it’s people? Hmm. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see when The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 2 is released on Nov. 20, 2015.
