Miranda Lambert’s eyes filled with tears during her performance of ‘Bathroom Sink’ but what viewers didn’t see was her reportedly rushing off stage crying when the show cut to commercial! Aww, this is so sad!
Miranda Lambert held it together during the CMAs but as soon as the lights went to black on stage, an insider tells E! that the recently divorced country singer hurried off stage, crying. This just has our hearts breaking. We know it was a tough day for Miranda because not only was it her first big event without Blake Shelton, 39, but earlier that day he announced he and Gwen Stefani were dating!
The report claims that even though viewers saw her tearing up during her performance, the real waterworks came when her song was over. An eyewitness claims to have seen her race off the stage before the curtain closed and she was totally tearing up — how sad! Also during Miranda’s speech for Female Vocalist of the Year she said: “Thank you….I needed a bright spot this year. Justin Timberlake, Chris Stapleton…thank you very much…I’m gonna go home and practice.”
When she performed she picked a very telling song, “Bathroom Sink” which is very emotional, here are some of the lyrics: “I pray as I get ready/For God to make me steady/And I thank Him for His patience/And I take my medication/And bless this day and all it brings/And I clean up the bathroom sink.”
During an interview in 2014 she said that this particular song is about how it’s hard sometimes to put on a smile and go out in public when you’re going through a difficult time. Hmm, exactly reflective of her night at the CMAs, no wonder she picked to perform this song! “It’s exhausting… all the stuff that goes into just going out into public sometimes. I wish I could just not do it for a day and see what happens. The ‘Bathroom Sink‘ is the place where every women has to face who she really is and who she wants to be.”
