The 2015 CMA Awards were totally awkward for one reason and one reason only — just minutes before Miranda Lambert walked the red carpet, her ex, Blake Shelton, and Gwen Stefani confirmed they’re dating. And then, they attended the same show — but did they run into each other?
Blake Shelton, 39, and his ex-wife, Miranda Lambert, 31, both attended the 2015 CMA Awards on Wednesday night, Nov. 4, in Nashville, Tennessee just hours after he confirmed he’s dating Gwen Stefani, 46. Talk about awkward! Especially because he and Miranda just recently got divorced. So what was it like when Miranda and Blake crossed paths at the show? Find out!
Thankfully, we never had to find out because Blake and Miranda respected each other’s space at the CMA Awards, PEOPLE reports. Even though they both sat in the front row, Blake and Miranda did not interact with each other. Blake sat 10 seats and one aisle away from Miranda, who bonded with Luke Bryan‘s wife Caroline Boyer throughout the evening.
Plus, both Blake and Miranda were actually good sports during Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley‘s opener, when the co-hosts made a joke about their divorce. But when it came time to Miranda giving a speech after winning for female vocalist of the year, she seemed to show how hurt she is.
“Hi guys, thank you so much,” Miranda said in her acceptance speech. “Man, I appreciate it. I needed a bright spot this year, so thank you.” Aww. We can imagine it wasn’t easy attending the show after hearing about Blake’s new romance with Gwen, but she remained strong throughout. We’re just glad she didn’t have to endure an awkward run-in with her ex.
Tell us, HollywoodLifers — are you glad Blake and Miranda didn’t run into each other at the awards show? Do you think it would have been awkward? Tell us how you feel.
