*NSYNC fans, rejoice! There has been a mysterious star in the group’s name since the band’s beginning, and now Joey Fatone has given us the reason for it! See what he said below!
If there’s one thing ’90s boy band fans were concerned about, it was probably figuring out exactly how you’re supposed to write *NSYNC‘s band name. There’s been several variations of the name, including apostrophes, stars, caps lock…yet there never seemed to be a particiularly “right” way. Never fear, boy banders, Joey Fatone is here to save the day! The former *NSYNC member confirmed that there is in fact a star in the band’s moniker, and he even revealed the epic story behind it!
As most *NSYNC fans know, the star has been a part of their name since their very first, self-titled album. According to Joey, that’s because of illusionist and psychic Uri Geller, whom the band met before they even rose to fame in America!
“The funny thing is, Uri Geller, who bends spoons…We saw him in the U.K., and this is when we were obviously establishing *NSYNC, and he goes, ‘I see something. It has to do with suns or stars or something with astronomy in your career,'” Joey told The Huffington Post. “And it’s funny, a year later when we did the first album, for America, they had a star in it.”
Well, there you have it — the star is totally astronomical! Uri has actually taken credit for the star in the band’s name for years. “I advised the guys to put a star on their records to ensure big success, looks like it worked!” he wrote on his website.
Whether you believe Uri and his star idea is the reason for *NSYNC’s insane success, it’s hard to deny that the guys were one of the biggest boy bands of all time! And now that fans finally solved the mystery of the star in their name, the only proper way to rejoice is with a little throwback jam sesh, don’t you think?
Do you like *NSYNC’s name with the star included, HollywoodLifers? What do you think of the story behind it? Share your thoughts below! (Yes, fangirling is also welcomed in the comments!)
