The 2015 CMAs were one of the biggest nights of the year for music, and the show brought us plenty of awesome moments that we’ll be talking about for ages. Click through the gallery to see our picks, including the moment when Justin Timberlake crashed country music!
There were tons of memorable moments at the 49th annual Country Music Awards, held on Nov. 4 at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee. It was one powerhouse performance after another, and of course hosts Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley joked with the best of them. Be sure to tell us what your favorite moments were!
First there was the monologue, in which Brad ribbed Blake Shelton‘s huge breakup with Miranda Lambert by encouraging him to join a singles site for farmers — hilarious. That was followed by an unexpected appearance by Star Trek star William Shatner, who showed up in a full-on Stormtrooper costume and even sang a few bars of Little Big Town‘s hit “Girl Crush”. He also said the phrase “shatting out loud” on national television. Bless.
Next came epic performances by Eric Church, Justin Timberlake, and Little Big Town. After Brad’s references to the Lonely Island classic “D*ck in a Box”, JT proved that he can do country just as well as comedy and all the other musical genres he’s explored — and excelled at. Really, Justin can do no wrong and is welcome anywhere.
Blake Shelton also gave a performance full of smiles during “Gonna”, radiating happiness at his newfound romance, and Florida Georgia Line debuted a brand new single titled “Confession”. Plus, let’s not forget about that amazing Fall Out Boy/Thomas Rhett mashup! This is why we sit through these things, people.
Miss America 2016 lit up the stage when she presented with Darius Rucker, and Carrie Underwood brought the house down when she performed “Smoke Break”. The adorable Sam Hunt then did some “sam hunting” with “Take Your Time”, and Miranda Lambert showed off her newly pink hair during “Bathroom Sink” before winning Female Vocalist of the Year for the fifth year in a row! Next, country legend Reba had the crowd on their feet with “Why Haven’t I Heard From You”, and Chris Stapleton took home the Male Vocalist of the Year award. Finally, Luke Bryan won Entertainer of the Year — such a huge honor. Congrats to all of the winners tonight!
