“Thank you to Lamar for giving me some of the best years of my life and for everything you taught me about being strong,” Khloe writes in the book’s acknowledgements. “Before I met you I felt invisible, and after I felt seen.”
Aww, our hearts are melting. While Khloe’s book is much more focused on her years-long battle to feel strong and sexy in her own body, she does spend a considerable amount of time opening up about the highs and lows of her relationship with Lamar, revealing such intimate details as the couple’s experience with couple’s therapy and why she almost quit Keeping Up With The Kardashians for the sake of her marriage.
“At one point, I actually went to the producers and said I needed some time off from the show,” Khloe writes. The producers were shocked, she explains, as she hadn’t asked for a moment of off-time in eight years of doing the show. However, when the producer asked Khloe what was wrong, she admits she lied out of fear. “I told her, ‘Nothing. I just need some family time,’” Khloe said. “But she knew. Any many others on the set suspected. How could they not? But I needed the time. I was living 90 percent of my life in front of the cameras, but the other 10 percent was and is scared.”
Sadly, the demise of her marriage brought Khloe’s life to a screeching halt, leaving her feeling damaged. “When it ended, when Lamar left, when it was truly over, things didn’t get any easier,” she writes. “When I got married, I was no longer simply one of the Kardashians; I had my own life and a separate identity…In sharing my life with Lamar, I felt as if my entire world had become greatly enriched. But with Lamar gone, it was as if I had taken a giant backward step. I was back to being Khloe, but a somewhat more “damaged version. And as much as I loved my family, losing Lamar had left me horribly adrift.”
Awww Khloe! We really feel for the reality star. Thankfully, it seems as if Khloe has come to peace with her marriage since then, and is all the stronger and better for it.
