Justin Bieber: Three Songs Inspired By Selena Gomez Breakup — ‘I Don’t Know If I’m Over It’

Justin Bieber went through a LOT with Selena Gomez, so it’s no surprise that she’s provided most of the inspiration for his album. In a new interview, the Biebs opens up about writing ‘Purpose’ and how he’s still feeling the aftermath of his breakup from the ‘Good For You’ singer.

It’s confirmed: There are Selena Gomez-inspired songs on Justin Bieber’s new album! The 21-year-old himself admits that at least three of the tracks on Purpose are about his relationship with the sexy singer, and he gets surprisingly candid about their romance in this new interview. To hear more about Justin Bieber, head over to iTunes and download the latest HollywoodLife podcast for free!

Of the 13 songs on Purpose, “probably like three” are about Selena, Justin confirms to Access Hollywood. “It was really tough,” he says of their split. “I don’t know if I’m over it yet. I think that I’m definitely in another place and I think we’ve definitely went our separate ways. I love her and I want her to be awesome, but there are things that remind me of her.”

Jelena sadly split at the end of 2012, but they’ve been photographed hanging out since the breakup, and clearly still care about one another. Unfortunately, they were just so young — only teenagers — during the relationship, and even Justin has to admit he’s wondered what would’ve happened if they’d been more mature when they were dating.

“I wrote a song [that] didn’t make the album, it was called “If I Would Have Met You In Five Years,”” he reveals. “How true is that? How many people go through life and end up meeting someone and it feels so right, but it’s just the wrong time? So many people can relate to that.” Ummm, yeah, we totally can — why are you denying us this sure-to-be epic song, Justin!?

“I’m never going to stop loving her,” the “What Do You Mean?” Singer adds. “I’m never going to stop checking in on her. I don’t think if you end a relationship, you should end that, unless it was super toxic and you guys were hurting each other physically or mentally. We always respected each other and we still respect each other now.”
