Poor Louis Tomlinson! The singer took it especially hard when his pal, Zayn Malik, revealed he was quitting their band, One Direction, last spring, and in a new interview, he opens up about how devastated he was over the news.
It’s been months since Zayn Malik left One Direction, but his bandmate, Louis Tomlinson, is still pretty emotional over it. As the band prepares to release its fifth studio album, the 23-year-old is dishing on what went wrong with Zayn, and why he’s so heartbroken over everything that went down. Read the interview here!
“It was hard. I think maybe for me the most,” Louis told The Sunday Times Style magazine. “But he wanted to be happy and he wasn’t. Everything had always been good and then something bad happens and you have to make decisions. You have to work out what you want and it makes you really know what you want. We all knew we wanted this.”
Luckily, the guys were able to focus all of their energy into new music after Zayn left them high and dry. “It was like, ‘Right, let’s make it the best album,'” Louis added, of how they decided to pour themselves into their work during the difficult time. “So we worked our backsides off because we wanted to show we are a band, we’re here and this is what we do.”
Now, seven months later, the guys are set to release their fifth studio album, Made in the A.M., and then they’ll go on a much-deserved break of their own. During that time, Louis and Liam Payne are planning to work together on the business side of the industry, and Louis will have another very important task to spend his time on: Fatherhood! The singer’s longtime friend and fling, Briana Jungwirth, is pregnant with his first child, so there will be a lot to keep Louis busy!
